Red Rocks Community College is a Professional Certifying Organization (PCO) for EPA's WaterSense program. WaterSense and its partners are committed to bringing water-efficient products to market, labeling new homes, and spreading the word about the need for smart water use.

    This in-person dual certification course combines QWEL Irrigation Auditor and QWEL Graywater Installer training into a single, streamlined program. Designed for efficiency, this course allows participants to complete both certifications in one week—earning two industry-recognized QWEL credentials in one registration.

    Participants will attend Irrigation Auditor training in the mornings and Graywater Installer training in the afternoons, completing all required coursework, hands-on activities, and exams for both programs, totalling 64 learning hours.

    • Certification: Successful completion of this course fulfills the requirements for both the QWEL Irrigation Auditor and QWEL Graywater Installer certifications. 
    • Hands-on Requirement: Installation of a greywater system and a live overhead spray irrigation audit.
    • Exam Date: March 13th, 2026 (In-person).
    • Format: In-person, lecture-based instruction with required hands-on components.


    Note: Participants who live or work in the City and County of Denver are eligible for a discount. Email graywater@denvergov.org to receive a promo code reducing the course fee to $50.

    This professional certification program is designed for landscape and irrigation professionals seeking to expand their expertise in on-site water reuse. This in-person course covers the QWEL Graywater reference materials, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to design, install, and maintain safe, code-compliant graywater systems for residential landscapes.

    • Key Topics: Water sources, sustainable landscaping, types of greywater systems, collection plumbing, feild sizing, distribution to lanscape, codes and permitting, future of graywater
    • Hands-on Requirement: Installation of a graywater system

    • Certification: To earn the QWEL Graywater certificate, you must complete the installation and pass the exam.
    • Exam Date: March 13th and October 22nd (In-person).

    Note: This registration is for the QWEL Graywater certification. To earn the QWEL Irrigation Auditor certification please register for that course separately. Course fees are subsidized by the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment. Participants who live or work in the City and County of Denver are eligible for a discount.
