Graywater Certification   

Learn how to design and build residential and commercial graywater systems compliant to Denver and Colorado regulations. The course is designed for people with basic plumbing, landscaping, or irrigation skills. You will learn about the concepts required to install graywater systems in the Denver area. There will be an optional exam and installation for people wishing to be certified and listed as Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper.  

This course will focus on laundry to landscape installation while introducing you to several of the commercially available graywater packaged systems. It includes a visit a to local, operational graywater system at the Colorado State University Spur Campus Hydro building.  

  • Key Topics: Denver water sources, Sustainable landscape practices, Plants and products for graywater, Distribution field sizing, Collection Plumbing, Distribution to Landscape, Colorado and Denver graywater regulations and permitting, Future of graywater – indoor reuse systems  
  • Hands-on Requirement: Participants must participate in a graywater system installation to complete certification.

  • Certification: To earn the QWEL Graywater certificate, you must complete the installation and pass the exam.
  • Exam Date: October 22nd (In-person).

Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) training provides education on water efficient and sustainable landscape practices. QWEL is an EPA WaterSense labeled Professional Certification Program. Red Rocks Community College is the Professional Certifying Organization for these courses.
