    PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS THE SECOND CLASS OF A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.

    Second Semester Overview:
    The second semester emphasizes final construction and finishing techniques. Students will shape and attach the arms, complete spindle making and installation, install the crest rail and blend it into the legs, and attach the rockers, shaping them to flow seamlessly into the legs. The course concludes with surface preparation for applying a traditional hand-rubbed finish.

The student will learn how to determine the adhesive and finish used, repair veneer, replace broken pieces, reassemble reconditioned furniture repair, and restore finishes. The student will learn how to determine the original construction methods employed in order to repair furniture.
